Guest guest
FORWARDED MESSAGE: Michigan Juveniles Force Puppy on Train Tracks to Die Several juveniles, ages 9 to 13, allegedly removed Sadie from her fenced-in backyard on May 9, 2001, and forced her onto the local train tracks as an oncoming train approached. Cindy Stiles, Sadie's guardian, began searching with friends and neighbors after the German shepherd puppy vanished from her yard. Sadie's body, cut in two, was found later that day. The perpetrators are believed to have tied Sadie to the tracks. At this time, the case is still under investigation. PETA's recent contact with the detective in charge of the investigation, however, leads us to believe that the case is not being taken seriously. Please send polite letters to the prosecutor handling this case, urging him to vigorously pursue this matter. Ask that, should the boys be convicted of this crime, they undergo psychological counseling, that the welfare of any animals currently at their homes be secured immediately, and that they be prohibited from owning animals in the future. Urge that they be made to participate in a humane education program where they will learn to respect animals. Write to: The Honorable Douglas Baker Wayne County Prosecutor's Office 1441 St. Antoine Detroit, MI 48226 Fax: 313-224-0969 Please also encourage the Ecorse police chief to take animal cruelty seriously. Remind him that cruelty to animals is a red flag. People who abuse animals rarely do it only once and almost always go on to abuse people. For the sake of the community and its animals, contact: Chief Robert Royals Ecorse Police Department 3869 W. Jefferson Ave. Ecorse, MI 48229 Fax: 313-294-0173 Sadly, gruesome crimes such as this illustrate why it is imperative for companion animal guardians never to allow animals outdoors without supervision. Please keep animals safe indoors. Get personalized email addresses from Mail http://personal.mail./
