Newly Vegan

HI, I have just started the Vegan lifestyle and am learning through

trial and error the best meat,chicken, and dairy substitutes.I was

wondering what items are out there that you guys enjoy?I live pretty

near to three vegetarian stores so avaliblity is not really a

problem.Also, what other ingrediants do I need to be watchful of when

shopping.I have a vegan friend who said something about

carsengin(?)And they sell products with that at the veggie store.Just

I'm not a vegan, but I enjoy Silk Vanilla Soymilk,

Toffuti Soy Cream Cheese, Tofuti Soy Ice Cream,

Tofutti Cuties. I have yet to find a vegan soy cheese

that's good, all though ones I like contain casein (a

milk protein). Here's a list of animal derived

products.

(People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) has a

pocket-sized version of this list that's free if you

e-mail them your address & request it. They also have

a pocket-sized list of companies that don't test on

animals that you might want to request they send you.

It might cost a buck, but I'm pretty sure it's free.
