Guest guest
sorry for that earlier incomplete post -- i find the the www.alternet.org website very helpful in obtaining alternative opinions to what happened in NYC. i think Gandhi said it best: " an eye for an eye and the whole world goes blind. " We are about to witness some major blindness sweeping across the world. We need to stop letting mainstream media feed us - papers like the New York Times, a newspaper that totally furthers the American Imperial project - and we should take the space and time to ask Why? Why do people commit acts of terrorism? Why was the USA attacked and not some other country? Why were the symbols of disgustinmg capitalist overaccumulation and military might chosen? I think that all the innocent victims deserve to have these questions answered instead of having their lost lives revenged in a disgusting display of racism, bravado and greed. I am horrified by what happened but I think we are better served at figuring out how to get to the root of this problem as opposed to saying we will make them pay. I know that no one cares to think about context right now but if we don't, we will enter into a very dark age. brandy AlterNet Headlines Brief summaries of leading stories from AlterNet -- the independent news and syndication service -- for September 12, 2001. http://www.alternet.org Given Tuesday's horrific and historic events, AlterNet's Headlines this week are devoted almost exclusively to coverage of the 9-11 terrorist attacks.
