Guest guest
Hey, i'm kinda new to this list too! I'd love to see more discussion here tho..seems a little quiet. Here's my blurbs: I love animals because...well, i don't really 'love' them, i have a lotta respect for them tho. I love how complete they are in and of themselves. Makes me jealous. I think Pythagoras is cool because...i hope i'm not a total contrarian here..hehe.. My favorite vegetarian restaurant in my area is...vegetarian restaurants are almost as bad as non-veg, but i'm lucky enough to be living near one of the best vegan restaurants in North America, that being Green Cuisine (Victoria, BC). Sometimes when I think of all the animals being exploited I...write a song. The best thing about being vegan is...waking up in the morning and knowing that i am doing as much as i can to reduce my impact on the lives of them there critters. The trouble with being vegan is...you can never be vegan enough. A book that has really inspired me is...DNA jump-started me many years ago. A [vegan] person who has really inspired me is...Joe Miele. =) Meat-eaters...if there is one there will be too many. My favorite vegan junk food is...oh boy! Those vegan and organic oreo cookies, by Country Choice! Denman Island chocolate is up there as well..how about that Earth Balance margarine, i hadn't had margarine in many years until a few months ago..and maple syrup..on everything. =) My favorite vegan dish is...um..ceramic? HAHA. McDonalds sucks because...they're friends with PETA. (Oooh..low blow!) I joined Planet-Vegan because...i don't rightly remember. Maybe i saw the website and was rather impressed. I've met Anji tho! My favorite famous vegetarian is...i don't like celebs. My plan to change the world is...oh man, this is a tough one. I'd like people to understand and accept how animals are just as much a feeling and intelligent being as themself, to treat them in such a way, and to have people to get people to live what they believe, not just think or talk about it. (Ooops..broken shell bits all over the place..) Keep those questionairres coming, and whatever you do, don't ask anyone about their comments!! =PppPpp - Dave " I've got a bit of that..how you say...je ne c'est pas! Guest guest
I love animals because... they are animals I think Pythagoras is cool because... he has found the theorem of the 90degrees triangle and of course because he was vegetarian in times when it was not very usual My favourite vegetarian restaraunt in my area is... broccoli & co although it has only open till 7p.m. and vegetasia an taiwanese restaurant. in both restaurants most dishes are vegan Sometimes when I think of all the animals being exploited I... am depressed and angry and it seems hopeless for a moment but i think we have the chance to change peoples minds, not with violence but with good arguments, and i hope the exploitation of any creature will end one day. The best thing about being veg*n is... that you stop supporting the industrie, which exploits animals The trouble with being veg*n is... there is no trouble. i only think it is not enough to be vegan. to be vegan is only one part for a better world. for me its also important to buy biological products and products for which neither animals nor humans were exploited (but i must admit that the fact that a product is vegan counts mostly for me) A book that has really inspired me is... " vegetarian cats & dogs " from peden A person who has really inspired me is... my family, my boyfriend chris, a friend named dorian and heidi & harald krisa who teached me how to educate dogs with positive motivation and all the persons i have got to know through protests for animals and of course many animals i've or have had a relationship with: free, the pig, wu, muck, puffi and bipo the cats, zorro the dog, timbo the rat and others... Meat-eaters... often repress that they are eating animals. some of them also have a lack of feelings for animals, but i think it's never to late to change habitudes when you want to change them. My favourite vegan junk food is... tomato rice in five minutes- not the healthiest but with this nice artificial taste :-) My favourite vegan dish is... it's not one- there are many! i love lasagne and indish cooking McDonalds sucks because... he is not already vegan - but he uses free-range eggs and has very good opening hours and i often use his toilets which are mostly cleaner than the public toilets. i think if we could encourange mcdonalds to have also some vegan plates we would have vegan dishes around the world and maybe many youngsters will eat them. for me mcdonalds sucks as much as all the other restaurants and fastfoodconcerns using animal products. I joined Planet-Vegan because... i'm interested in the result of this " quiz " My favourite famous vegetarian is... (See: http://www3.sympatico.ca/anji/famous.html ) isaac b. singer, because there are many persons who have told me i should do something for humans before i care about animals, but persons who suffered on their own and nevertheless care about animals are very rare. (and there are other vegetarians i like, e.g.: leonardo da vinci, albert einstein, franz kafka, mahatma gandhi) My plan to change the world is... to make public relation, to have good arguments and to help some individuals as far as possible and to live myself as cruelty free as possible Special bonus trivia question!!! Who said: " Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances for survival of life on earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet " ??? albert einstein
Guest guest
>I love animals because... They make me smile. My cats are my life, and I think my next adoption will be a turtle. >I think Pythagoras is cool because... Triangles are an untapped resource...?... >My favourite vegetarian restaraunt in my area is... Sunflower Cafe in Community Natural Foods. Yum! >Sometimes when I think of all the animals being exploited I... Cry. Especially the turtles. I'm not sure why they affect me so much, but I was telling a friend about them the other day and I actually had tears streaming down my face. >The best thing about being veg*n is... Knowing that everything I put in my body is good for me, both physically and emotionally. It's as close to guilt-free living as you can get in our modern world. >The trouble with being veg*n is... Finding money to buy the food that I want. Organic is just not an option for me right now. >A book that has really inspired me is... Eat Mangoes Naked. It made me want to write letters to everyone I know. >A person who has really inspired me is... Sarah. She makes me smile. >Meat-eaters... must be happy. After all, ignorance is bliss, right? *gag* >My favourite vegan junk food is... Nuts. I'm a nut fiend (as my tummy proves...) >My favourite vegan dish is... Soup. Any and all soups. Yum! >McDonalds sucks because... Even there FRIES have beef seasoning. Gove me a break... >I joined Planet-Vegan because... I want contact with other vegans. None of my friends are vegan, so I guess I was hoping to find someone in Calgary (okay...it's a long shot) and have someone to chat with... >My favourite famous vegetarian is... Me. I'm big in Europe. (Well...it could happen....) Okay, okay...Ali McGraw, Penelope Cruz, Fiona Apple, Erykah Badu, Sting, Serena Williams...There's tonnes! >My plan to change the world is... Use my income tax refund to take a correspondance course (in what? I don't know...) and start a business and make EVERYONE aware of how they affect their surroundings. >Special bonus trivia question!!! > >Who said: " Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances for >survival of life on earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian >diet " ??? Guest guest
My first message here as well... Amazon Grrrl at veganbliss wrote: >> I love animals because... I wouldn't really say I love animals, non-human or as a whole.. love for animals isn't why I'm vegan. But I guess non-human animals are cool because they don't try to turn everything on earth into food for their species. >> I think Pythagoras is cool because... of his vegetarianism, of course! And because of the Pythagoreans' funny no beans rule, too.. (I can't help but think they were lacking in protein without legumes.. but then, they believed beans were alive like animals, so what can you do.) (I guess also his contributions to presocratic philosophers shaped what was to come after, which obviously influenced modern philosophy, and I certainly like that, it's just less on-topic.) >> My favourite vegetarian restaraunt in my area is... I've only ever been to one vegetarian restaurant and I didn't care for it. I generally just get vegan dishes from regular restaurants. >> Sometimes when I think of all the animals being exploited I... I dunno, I'm really not very affected by exploitation of nonhumans on a moral or emotional level most of the time. >> The best thing about being veg*n is... The vast health benefits. >> The trouble with being veg*n is... that vegan cheese is just so gross, and I've yet to find a vegan croissant. heh. >> A book that has really inspired me is... Ishmael, by Daniel Quinn, at least as far as on topic inspiration goes. >> A person who has really inspired me is... There isn't anyone with regard to veganism. >> Meat-eaters... are often mis- and/or under-informed, and often have serious self-discipline problems with regard to food. >> My favourite vegan junk food is... french fries, potato chips, vegan chocolate.. >> My favourite vegan dish is... golden lentil soup with french bread (that's my favorite dish of the moment, anyway.) >> McDonalds sucks because...they make so much money via destruction (of cows/chickens/whatever else they put in their meals, the environment *and* humans.) >> I joined Planet-Vegan because... I can't really remember now.. >> My favourite famous vegetarian is... I can count the famous people I care about on the digits of one hand and I'm pretty sure none are vegetarian, unfortunately. >> My plan to change the world is... still in the making... -james.
