If you don't buy utilitarianism in general, it's more difficult to agree with Singer's arguments (though not necessarily his conclusions.) There are plenty of excellent critiques of his theories, and plenty of philosophers can debate what he has to say - his logic is fine, so there are no holes to poke in his argument, but there are plenty of other ways to argue against a point of view.
