Guest guest
I don't necessarily expect or believe that everyone drawn to this list is vegan. I do hope that everyone drawn to this list believes that veganism is doing the right thing. I do hope that everyone here who is not vegan can feel free to say so and to be free to ask for suggestions regarding how others made the change. If we do not feel free to tell the truth and can feel safe with that truth, then we may be compelled to lie or distort the truth...or even to suggest or believe that we are or can be vegan without being vegan. Let's all feel free to tell it like it is. Some of us made the decision and jumped in without transitioning our diet. Others have made the change over time. Some have gone back and forth, while others are still struggling to make the change from vegetarianism or whatever to veganism. That's life on our mythical planet vegan. We must act compassionately to accept all into our mythical and virtual space online. But we don't have to make excuses for what others do or do not do in the name of being vegan. Veganism and it's message should be clear. We must be compassionate to all others if we are to be compassionate to all animals. Indeed, we too are animals in this larger universe. Begging your pardon, for my opinion, Ernie PS: Having been a list moderator for well over 10 years even way back in the days of bulletin boards; I also moderated a vegan/AR list when I beta tested MSN years ago... so I am aware that some who join lists do so to disrupt and discredit the cause...perhaps more so in the early days... I've heard and dealt with all the arguments and excuses. And I have learned we must be clear with our message. Otherwise it becomes distorted. Guest guest
I live in a small town called Renmark on South Australia. It is a battle to find purely vegan foods in the supermarkets, and in take-away stores. I am the only vegan in my family, and the only vegan I know. I am going out with a meat-eating boyfriend, which sometimes makes it hard. People often criticise my choice to be vegan, and think that it is stupid. Going out for tea is a nightmare with little or no vegan options to choose from. I just wish that people would look at me and realise what I am doing is not only preventing animal cruelty, but saving the planet. I would love them to think before they ordered a hamburger, or cooked a BBQ. Its great to be able to send and recieve emails by like-minded people. I give my utmost support to any restaurants, people or companies that are vegan orientated. And the issue of the BK veggieburger I don't think I would ever place one in my mouth, and support such a horrible fast-food chain. Guest guest
Hiya Paul, You're dead right about Holland & Barrett... You go in there and they have all the framed certificates and stuff all over the wall showing you how clever they're all supposed to be, but I went in one day wanting some vegan jelly crystals. I went to the H & B lady and asked if she knew if it was vegan. She took it out of my hands, read through the ingredients and said, " No, sorry - it's got locusts in it. " I had a look myself... It was locust bean gum! (sigh!) Cheers, James - liverpaul68 Sunday, March 13, 2005 1:26 PM being vegan hi stephanie try the vegan society's uk website for help also is it vegan website. there are vegan groups around the uk were fellow vegans meet up weekly, monthly etc. theres also a book the vegan soc do called the vegan shoper whish lists loads of vegan products from supermarkets etc.holand and barret are a bit rubbish knowing whats vegan or not, independet health food shops are useually better. if you need any help just get in contact. all the best on being vegan paul Post message: Subscribe: - Un: - List owner: -owner Shortcut URL to this page: /community/
