Dear Friends,

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iraq, answered to many of us,

concerning the Portuguese bullfight in Iraq.

According to that answer that many of you already know, he qualifies

bullfights as a match and as a sport practiced for centuries in

Europe.

He also shows his surprised for such a wave of protests against the

" match. "

Nevertheless he does not say if the bullfight will be performed or

not. *** Well, I think that is urgent to answer this gentleman and

explain him what is the real nature of bullfights and that the

suffering of his people does not justify the suffering of any

sentient

beings.

I made a new letter that was already sent by the MATP-Movimento

Anti-Touradas de Portugal. Please feel free to send this or a similar

one.

We still can avoid this bullfight, so please send more and more

letters.

Minister of Foreign Affairs:

Dear Minister of Foreign Affairs,

We acknowledge the receipt of your letter for which we thank you.

We also want to thank the inquiry you made about the issue.

Nevertheless there are some points that we wish to clarify:

1.. Bullfights are not sports neither are they matches, on the contrary;

they are simple and cruel animal torture. The bulls did not choose to

be there, they are there against their will which is exactly the

opposite of sports or games, where persons and only persons choose to

be there at their own will. 2.. In the bullfights the bull is

tortured with irons as you had the opportunity to see in the enclosed

photo of our letter. It's torture and violence.

3.. It's not true that Europe practised this sport of barbarity for

centuries. But if it was true, also slavery was practised for

centuries and today there is no excuse to practice it anymore.

4.. Bullfights in Europe are dying, because people are against it.

They know that there is no excuse, moral or ethical to torture

animals

just for entertainment, and this is exactly why they are trying to

export this barbarity to your country.

5.. Bullfights are a dirty and bloody business nothing more*** we ask

you not to allow bullfights, this is a form of violence.

***the occident and the European countries are against this. Once

more

we ask you do not allow the bullfights and we would like to remember

that according to the spirit and overall teaching of Islam causing

unavoidable pain and suffering to the defenseless and innocent

creatures of God is not justifiable under any circumstances. The

Prophet(s) condemned those people who take up anything alive as a

mere

sport. " (Narrated by Abdullah bin 'Omar. Muslim, Vol. 3, Hadith No.

1958). The Prophet said: 'Do not set up living creatures as a target'.
