Guest guest
(fwd- this is an open letter to Michelle Taliban from another list that she seems unable to respond to in an adult or appropriate fashion) UNGOVERNABLEFORCE, Michelle Galin <foyerfelin> wrote: > > I strongly believe that sensitivity to the plight of Palestinians <snip usual glorification of Jihad, Taliban & suicide bombers> Lets get this straight. Nobody has remotely implied that they do not have sensitivity to the plight of the palestinians. Not here, not at Eco-Vegans, not at Vegans Uncensored, not at Planet Vegan, not at Muslem Vegetarians. Probably not at any of the other lists and forums that you are doubtless trying to turn into Jihad buletin boards. Nobody has remotely expressed support for Ariel Sharon and the actions of the Isrealli army. Point me to just one post that has please. But when people get sick of your dubiously sourced, one sided propaganda that denounces Jenin as an attrocity (which it certainly is), but praises suicide bombers and the taliban as martyrs and freedom fighters, you dismis them as 'islamophobic'. When people get sick of you forwarding jew conspiracy-nut crap originating from white supremacists and nazis, you claim political naivity- " Oh how was I to know- I've only been interested in politics and religion since march " When people get sick of your spouting that you find Judaism a disgusting religion that should be outlawed, you dismiss them as 'zionists'. When people actually put forward constructive ways forward, or publicise real attempts to create peace initiatives, you don't want to hear. This is nothing but 'PR gibber' to you. How, exactly, do you see yourself as being remotely helpful in this situation? The Israelis will never defeat the palestinians. The palestinians will never defeat the isrealis. Instead they will remain locked in a futile scorpion dance of violence and mutual hatred. One day, whether you like it or not, the cycle will be broken. This will only happen once people begin to talk, negotiate, break down barriers, understand each other. It might stick in the craw, but the people of northern ireland have realised this. People with far more bitterness and anger than you can dream of, people who have spent their entire lives being marinated in an atmosphere of political and religious prejudice, violence and mutual hatred have been big enough to be able to put aside the guns and bombs and say, " OK, lets talk. Lets move this thing forward. " The peace process might be a long, slow, tortuous road with setbacks and pitfalls on every step of the journey. But at the end of the day it will be the only way. When are you going to grow up and stop being part of the problem and start to be part of the solution?
