Guest guest
Hi everyone; I recently found a very new listing on PubMed by Prof. Torolf Moen, Consultant, M D, Ph D in Norway, about the blood type diet. It did not have an abstract with it though, so I contacted the author and he kindly sent me the following English translation of it. I thought you might be interested in it. Deborah Moen T. " The blood group diet " -- science or fantasy? Background: " The blood group diet " is a new philosophy of naturopathic medicine with Dr Peter J. D'Adamo as the main originator. His thoughts and accounts of private practice as a naturopathist has been issued as a book. Dr D'Adamo has developed a peculiar dogma on the evolution of the ABO blood groups in man, and he is connecting several physiological characteristics by absolute association to the different blood groups. He claims that these characteristics, thought to have an evolutionary basis, still have major influences on our lives to day. He further claims that the blood groups are of major importance for which sorts of food we should choose to eat and that diets according to his principles can be used as treatment of a wide spectrum of diseases Conclusion: The present paper contains an evaluation of the realities of Dr. D'Adamo's dogmas and concludes that his concepts do not seem to have a scientific foundation and should not be taken seriously. Further conclusion is that some dietary treatments of patients such as presented in Dr D'Adamo's casuistic reports, should if performed in Norway, be regarded as a violation of Norwegian medical law.
