Guest guest
Hi everyone! I'm not sure if this sandwich has been released nation wide yet, or if Subway is just test marketing it in a few cities. (I live in Atlanta, GA) However, I discovered yesterday that they are now offering a sandwich with a veggie-burger type patty, called the VegiMax. I could not find any information on this sandwich at the Subway website (which leads me to believe it is just being test marketed right now) so I wrote to their customer service department and received the following nutrition and ingredient info on the patty: *********************** 6 " Vegi Max Sandwich Calories 390 Protein (g) 24 Carbohydrates (g) 56 Sugars (g) 7 Fat (g) 8 Saturated Fat (g) 1.5 Cholesterol (mg) 10 Sodium (mg) 1030 Dietary Fiber (g) 7 The above values include white bread, a 3.0 oz patty, and all the standard vegetables. Cheese or other condiments are not included. The nutrient value may vary depending on the store's manufacturer. The ingredients for the VegiMax are as follows: Mushrooms, water chestnuts, onions, carrots, green and red bell peppers, black olives, textured vegetable protein (soy protein concentrate, wheat gluten), egg whites, cooked brown rice, rolled oats, corn oil, calcium caseinate, soy sauce (water, soybeans, salt, wheat). Contains 2% or less of the following: onion powder, corn starch, salt, hydrolyzed corn, soy and wheat protein, sucrose, soy protein isolate, spices, garlic powder, dextrose, jalapeno pepper powder, and celery extract. ******************** I wanted everyone to be aware that this product is NOT vegan. I am extremely pleased that Subway is attempting to reach out to their non-meat eating customers and I intend to write them to laud their efforts. It would be great if we could all send Subway a letter expressing our support of their efforts to reach out to their vegetarian and vegan customers with the new VegiMax sandwich. However, we would greatly appreciate it if they would look in to reformulating their VegiMax Patty to make it vegan-friendly and thus expose themselves to a much wider audience. Please send your polite and supportive letters / emails / phone calls to Subway at the following contact info: (remember, negative comments will only damage our argument) Subway Franchise Headquarters 325 Bic Drive Milford, CT 06460 Ph#: (203) 877-4281 / (800) 888-4848 To send electronic comments: http://www.subway.com/applications/cs_form/ Thanks and Best Regards!
