Guest guest
Hello, my name is Manuela (36) and I am intending to become a vegan for the rest of life. I have been a vegetarian on and off for years. I also lasted as a vegan for six month at one time. I justlove the philosophy behind it.Even though it may discust some of you, I did enjoy my meat now and then in my lifetime, but I can't stand the thought anymore that some poor animal is tortured and eventually killed for my pleasure. I don't want any creature to suffer on my account anymore. My biggest problem is my husband though. I was able to trick him in many ways to eat mainly vegetarian, but cannot move him to give up eggs, cheese, fish and milk (only for his tea). So I will always have to provide for him separately. When I stopped being a vegan two years ago, it was out of convenience, because it can be hard work at times to cater for two different tastes. I don't want to slip back into old habits. So I am joining this group in the hope to stay inspired and strong. My husband and I got into organic gardening so we should always have lots of fresh fruit and vegetables at hand. I hope I am at the right address here. With Kind regards Manuela
Guest guest
Manuela, It isn't up to you to convert your husband to veganism, however, it is your choice not to cook and purchase products that you oppose. If he insists on keeping a vegetarian diet, then let him know that he may have to provide for himself. <A HREF= " bornagainhuman " >Ann</ A>

Guest guest
Annie, I have been slowly tricking him for the last thirteen years. I have altered all meaty dishes and used Soya in its various forms. He often didn't notice. He loves it very much now, especially after all the food scares. He hardly uses milk but for his tea, he prefers Soya milk for his cereal. He has come a long way. I shall carry on easing him into new foods, but it will take some time. I myself am ready for it, because I just can't stand it anymore, how animals are even unwell under so-called organic husbandry. I don't include the soil-association approved farms in this criticism. There are organic chicken and eggs on sale under the organic standard of the farmers association, and these animals are still kept more or less intensively. When I found that out and heard also the arrogant comments of one of the farmers, who was approached, something just went inside of me. The illusion that I could keep eating eggs without a bad conscience is gone. I feel awful, that I could have been so naive. Well, I shall make up for it now.
