Guest guest Posted May 9, 2000 Report Share Posted May 9, 2000 Hello everyone, Ok, I need some sympathy. My daughter and I witnessed a mother duck get hit by a car today, she had 8 babies with her. We managed to get her babies (and her - she was very fortunate and wasn't injured) off the busy street and into a shopping center. We left and had lunch with my mother (who incidently helped us gather everyone up). After lunch my daughter and I decided to see if we couldn't take the ducks to a park with a lake, so we again gathered them up and took them to the park. Everything was going great. She went out into the water, I told my daughter that at least they'd be safer than where they were, when all of a sudden a gull latched onto one of the babies and took off with it. We stood there stunned, unable to do anything. At last count she'd lost three and as far as I can tell, she'll lose them all. Here we had been so proud of ourselves for helping, and we ended up murdering them. I realize I don't need the sympathy as much as the mom does, but I really did try to help. I feel so awful.
