An animal rights vigilante wanted to make a point about meat. The two met Tuesday in a cream-pie collision. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals said one of its members, Arathi Jayaram of Mansfield, Ohio, ran onto the stage at a government nutrition summit and heaved a tofu cream pie, yelling: " Shame on you, Dan Glickman, for pushing meat and promoting animal cruelty. " PETA's beef with Glickman, said spokeswoman Dawn Carr, is that he won't " acknowledge that a meat-based diet is killing people. " Glickman took the public smear with good humor and a bad feel for filling, telling reporters he thought it had been an apple pie.
