Guest guest
I suspect that I will not be the only one wanting my twopennorth on this topic. I would just like to say that I personally feel not the least insulted by Annie's statements, in fact I share many of her sentiments. The main reason I don't take this personally is that Annie and I have never met, therefore she cannot possibly mean me. We can all only speak as we find and I remember an event from my childhood when my mother asked me who I would rescue from a burning building if I could only save one being - would it be the dog or the human? Without hesitation I replied the dog, whereupon she made me promise never to say that to anyone else (ok, another broken promise - sorry mum). The reason behind my reply was not because dogs are cute, but because up until that point in my life I had received nothing but happiness from animals and very little other than unhappiness from people. Simple, really. You can't keep being nasty to someone without them ending up disliking you, and that applies as much to species as to individuals in my opinion. And there's nothing like good old humanity for being unpleasant! I don't get the impression that Annie has given up on humans altogether (otherwise she would hardly have bothered joining this list) and I consider her ability to recognise and articulate her true feelings healthy rather than worrying. Having said all of which, good on you Patrick for caring enough to voice your concerns. Why ever should you be banished from the list for an opinion?
