A friend mentioned a passage in a book called 'Emmanuel's Book' after speaking

with her about not eating animals. The passage is in regards to the animals

being a gift from God to devour. I'm not questioning where I stand in regards

to my eating habits but would love to hear your responses to the passage.

Thanks and thank you everyone for the cake recipes.

I find it hard to accept the pain of the lower echelon of the food chain.

And therein lies the struggle for those who are caught in thinking so much about

their fate. However in the consciousness of those smaller animals there is no

past and no future, no shoulds and no shouldn'ts. There simply is. This

release from judgment allows for total acceptance of the circumstances.

But a baby bird falling out of its nest...what can help that bird?

Love

And if a cat comes over and kills the bird....then what can help the bird?

Love. Not only for the bird but also for the cat.

When you see, in what is labelled the predator, cruelty, anger, unfellingness,

you are merely seeing a reflection. When, in the motions of two consciousnesses

coming together to fulfill a mutual contract, you can see, behind the act, the

love, the balance, the reason, the purpose, you will no longer feel yourself

burdened by that illusion that causes you to cringe.

As you accept--not blindly, not uncaringly, but with an ever-deepening

awareness--those circumstances involved in human existence, you will more and

more be reflecting your own Light. There will come a day when regardless of

what is transpiring in the human community, you will regard it as a blaze of

Light, and you will be free.

Is it possible that the bird would fall out of its nest as a gift to the cat?

And as a gift to itself. God, in His Consciousness, I dare say, would see the

fall and utlimate demise of that bird as a time of joyous reunion, as Light

coming Home.

Greetings all,

In my belief and my faith, my God(dess) does not create nor desire pain,

suffering, and death. That is created by our own free will. We all shake our

heads about the sad condition of the world today, and yet each one of us

contributes to the pain, suffering and death that is present. This is easier

to see in the meat-eaters (human or animal), but it doesn't stop there. We

not only create misery in the world by our words and deeds, but also by our

*thoughts*. Think about that for a moment. How many times have we felt that

we were being so good by not saying or doing something hurtful and all the

while we were enjoying really vicious thoughts. Thoughts count! Never direct

an angry thought at any living being. And the thoughts, words, deeds don't

have to be against friends, family, co-workers, animals, etc., we can (and

do) aim them at ourselves. Each time we have a harmful thought, word or

deed, we are contributing to the misery in this world. Now multiply that by

6 billion people. Is it any wonder the world is the way it is? I read

somewhere that if just one person could live a totally harmless life in

thought, word, and deed, then the entire world would be instantly healed and

changed. Of course, in my opinion, to accomplish this we will have to

eventually take the next step diet-wise to fruitarians. Unfortunately,

plants have feelings too. The only things that are not harmed by eating them

are those things which can be picked or fall off the plant without killing

the plant. Incredibly, we are able to get most of our nutrition this way.

Briefly, we can get proteins/fats from nuts, seeds, etc. We can get

carbohydrates from fruits (which include tomatoes, avocados, cucumbers,

eggplant, etc.) and fiber from legumes (beans) and grains. And here in the

21st Century we can get anything else we might still need from supplements.

The old Wiccan creed of " An it harm none, do what thou will " has become

possible and something to gradually work our way toward. I do believe that

there is a karmic tie that is being played out between the murderers and

victims, etc., but I do not believe it comes from God(dess). I believe in a

compassionate universe that allows us to achieve balance this way... until

we learn better. Now that I've quoted Wicca, I'll give equal time to the

Bible. According to the Bible, " the lion will lay down with the lamb " . I

sincerely believe that we (vegetarians/vegans) are on the pathway that will

eventually lead to this peace among all living beings on the planet. How can

we expect animals to stop killing each other when people can't stop killing

each other and other beings. Oooh. This was much longer than I intended.

Hopping off of soapbox.. Blessings to you all, Sherry
