" More than 1000 people from 20 countries attended the 34th World Vegetarian Congress at the Toronto Colony Hotel from july 10 to 16. It was the first time in its 92-year history that the congress was held in Canada. Each congress is under the auspices of the international Vegetarian Union (IVU), a non-profit organization whose aim is to promote vegetarianism worldwide through its member societies. The congress boasted more than 70 international speakers providing information on health, plant-based nutrition, ethics, animal issues, spirituality, global issues, food preparation and vegetarian activism. Attendees were treated to a culinary extravaganza of vegetarian meals prepared by Gold Medal Award winning chefs, Ron Pickarski and Ken Bergeron. ----------------------------- From The Upperworld Redaction: All the major speakers of the congress where taped by the Upperworld NewsCrew. Most of the 60 hours that we recorded will be available on our website. Information should be free, and so it will be. Also we showcase a slideshow featuring all the Veggie council members mentioned above(see our latest news). I for one appreciated my experience at the congress, and The Upperworld Society expects to be one of the major players at WVC2002. www.upperworld.com Pascal Pilon Head Redaction The Upperworld Society / La société Upperworld p2
