Guest guest
You can read the text of the alert below or through the HSUS site at: http://www.hsus.org/whatnew/avitrol082100.html Only 24 hours left. Please cross-post and act NOW!! ----------------------- It's Down to the Wire on the Avitrol Ban New York Governor George Pataki has until midnight on Tuesday, August 22, to sign A. 1157, which would ban the use of Avitrol to poison pigeons. Avitrol is a particularly inhumane poison that poses a lethal danger to both animals and humans. Those who ingest Avitrol die an extremely painful and drawn-out death. HSUS wildlife veterinarian Patrice Klein points out that the use of Avitrol " does nothing to permanently affect pigeon populations... Moreover, many non-target birds have been killed by ingestion of Avitrol. " Even peregrine falcons, an endangered species, have fallen victim. " It is senseless to continue to put these birds and other animals through this slow, torturous death. " Last year, Governor Pataki listened to special interest groups and refused-at the last minute-to sign an Avitrol ban. Don't let it happen again this year. What You Can Do Tell Governor Pataki to sign A. 1157 before midnight on Tuesday, August 22.
