Guest guest
(After having Jay Dinshah as a guest on Morning Exchange, Joel Rose announced he was becoming a vegetarian)- It was Jay Dinshah who first popularized the word ahimsa in the US, a Sanskrit word which means nonviolence. Mahatma Gandhi had popularized the Sanskrit word 'sathyagraha' which means 'truth force' or force of truth. Sanskrit is the mother of all languages and was described in the last century by Sir Wm Jones of the Asiatic Society as more perfect than Latin, more copious than Greek, and more exquisitely refined than either. Jay Dinshah was also the grandfather of the American vegan and vegetarian movements. (Yogananda was the great grandfather, establishing the first vegetarian restaurant in the US. ) Jay Dinshah left for God in June of 2000. He and his wife Freya and his brother organized the International Vegetarian Union (IVU) convention in Orono Maine in 1976, wrote many books including institutional vegan recipe books. Jay's father was a color healer who developed machines which were smashed by the FDA. We do not know if the FDA has ever made monetary amends to the Dinshah family.
