Please email the sponsor and let them know you will not do business with them as long as they support such cruelty to animals. (This is the second time this alert is being sent out, the first time we did not have the name of the specific person. We also received very unsatisfactory replies from thecompany.)~BarbaraThis from PETA: General Mills sponsors the UniverSoul Circus and Circo Mundial. Both circuses use chimps, elephants, tigers, and other animals who are " rented " from animal suppliers, or they hire independent animal acts andtrainers. Visit www.Circuses.com for specific info about each circus. Please write a polite letter to General Mills and ask that it immediately discontinue sponsorship of both these circuses. Ask that in the future, it sponsor only animal-free circuses.SEND TO:Stephen W. SangerChair and CEO General Mills201 General Mills Blvd.P.O. Box 1113Minneapolis, MN 55440-1113 Pat.rozman LETTER (modified letter taken from AnimalAdvocacy ) ***Don’t forget to sign***~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Pat.rozman end General Mills’sponsorship of cruel animal circusesDear Mr. Sanger :I am sending this letter to protest your company's sponsorship of The Hispanic National Circus Circo Mundial and the UniverSoul Circus. An animal circus is a terribly cruel and inhumane event that should be outlawed! As you may have already heard, Circo Mundial claimed a life of a colt this past summer in Hartford,CT. To see the story, go to: http://www.ctnow.com/scripts/editorial.dll?fromspage=all/home.htm & categoryid= & bf\ romind=588 & eeid=2465068 & eetype=article & render=y & ck= & ver=hb1.3 Over the last few years, there has been a dramatic increase in the numbers of individuals maimed and killed by performing animals. As a result of the distressing environment in which entertainment animals are forced to live, many animals have been left with no other option but to revolt against those who have mistreated them so severely. Since 1990 alone, captive-performing elephants have killed eighteen people. These numbers do not include those instances in which other species of performing animals have attacked unwitting humans, the majority of which weremere spectators. The fact of the matter is, no amount of training, however severe, can erase the instinctive, unpredictable ways of wild animals. This coupled with the fact that they are tormented constantly, every day of their lives, these animals cannot be deemed safe for public exposure. Since most revolts by captive animals are a result of their mistreatment at the hands of their " caretakers, " the lack of attention given these groups by the regulating authorities leaves them wide open to treat their animals inwhatever way they deem fit. Since it is virtually impossible to train a wild animal with love and positive reinforcement, I can guarantee you that the majority of performing animals have been subject to abuse, torture, and mistreatment, all to get them to perform few tricks that are not only uncomfortable to the animals, but unnatural as well. Revolts are inevitable and it is the spectatorswho pay the price. Please show some compassion for the animals by not supporting animal circuses. Please support only animal free circuses. I will not support a company thatpromotes animal abuse.Sincerely, _______________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
