Guest guest
I think that many times the actual verbiage with hear on these vegetarian e-mail lists is conversation with ourselves, and not suitable for exporting directly to the general public. What concerns me -- deeply -- is that I seldom hear ordinary rank and file vegetarians talking effectively with the public. The vegetarians who speak directly to the public are folks like Dr. Neal Barnard, Howard Lyman, and others. These are vegetarians who, while " pure " , are not OBVIOUS in constantly talking about purity. They seem to have the facts together, they know exactly what the concerns of the public are, and WE are out their HAILING THEM for their effectiveness in presenting a clear picture to the general human population of the issues involved. I wonder what it will take for us to establish effective educational and preparational processes within our vegetarian communities so that more of us become effective in the ways that these well-acknowledged vegetarian leaders are effective.
