Guest guest
I just formed an animal rights group at my law school. To publicize our first meeting, I used the accepted and common method of listserve e-mail, sending a notice out to all students. All school groups do this (e.g. Environmental Law Caucus, Women's Law Caucus, ACLU, the Federalist Society, Christian Legal Society, etc.) I just got a response from some guy asking me to remove him from my " mailing list " and signed himself a " hunter, killer, and equal-opportunity eater of animals. " I'm very upset and agitated over this, probably way out of proportion to the magnitude of the problem. I know that if I want to be an effective activist, I have to learn to let this garbage roll off me. How do you do it? Thanks, Anna
Guest guest
Anna; First of all, please accept my congratulations on the formation of your new AR group! :-) Good job! I wish you best of luck with it. And now, regarding the " hunter... " I think your reaction is completely appropriate and understandable. I think I would feel just the same if it were me in your position. When I have been asked to take someone " off my list " , literally or figuratively, I have found that I can do that by releasing them like a message in a bottle, in hope and trust that the person will find their own way to the Light. I have found that such a method has been very effective, not only at granting me release and peace but amazingly also in showing results in their lives as well. I hope that this is helpful to you Anna. I think you're on a good path, and it sounds to me like you have what it takes! Deborah My Groups | Main Page | Start a new group!
