Washington, D.C. 20515 Dear Mr. McCollum, I am writing to encourage you to support HR 2929, The Captive Elephant Accident Prevention Act, which will ban the use of elephants in traveling shows and elephant rides. Since 1983, at least 28 people have been killed and at least 70 others have been injured by rampaging elephants in circuses and zoos. All elephants in circuses and many zoos endure a life of continual confinement on chains and are subject to intimidation and abuse in training and exhibition which makes them a real danger to their handlers and, especially, the public. There have been at least seven such incidents involving trained, captive elephants just this year, three of which ended in the deaths of three people. For these reasons, it is vital that HR 2929 is enacted immediately to prevent further tragedies to people and animals. Thank you for your time and attention to this letter, and again, please support HR 2929. Sincerely, Address: _______________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
