WHAT: Largest animal rights telephone survey in the United States. WHERE: Many Cities in the U.S. over a seven month period WHEN: Starting on November 1, 2000 and continuing to May 31, 2001. WHO: Hundreds of animal rights activists across the United States. Love All Animals, a youth based animal rights group based in Ft. Thomas, KY, is planning on making a difference again. President and Founder, Ryan Courtade, is launching the largest animal rights telephone survey in the country. Hundreds of animal rights activists will be calling random numbers from the phone book, and asking them questions about animal testing, and taxes. An estimated of 500,000 people will be contacted over the seven month period. Once June 2001 rolls around, Love All Animals will have collected all the data from this survey. They will then pass this information to every State and Federal politician in America. The politicians will then know how the public feels about such an important subject. Thousands of animals are killed in painful animal tests in laboratories located across America, every year. These tests determine the 'safety " of cosmetics and household products. Substances ranging from eye shadow and soap to furniture polish and oven cleaner are tested on rabbits, rats, guinea pigs, dogs, and other animals, despite the fact that test results do not prevent or treat human illness of injury. No law requires these cosmetic and household product tests on animals. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requires only that each ingredient in a cosmetic product be " adequately substantiated for safety " prior to marketing, or the product must carry a warning on the label that its safety has not been determined. The FDA does not have the authority to require any particular product test, so contrary to what companies that use lethal dose tests say, the FDA does not require the tests. A list of questions that will be asked in the survey is available; also, a list of people who will be helping in this survey, and a list of the cities where this survey will be asked, will be available towards the end of October.
