Guest guest
I can see some of the " marketing potential " for the creativity that Dr. Michael Greger (a Food Not Bombs activist, BTW, in the Boston area) has demonstrated in his 'one act play' Where Do You Get Your Calcium? There are indeed vegetarians in marketing and advertising, in creative professions of many kinds, and many of the more creative vegetarians and vegans are computer programmers, web designers, scientists, doctors, and nutritionists. However, there are a few discussion lists focused directly on the topic of how vegetarianism can be best advanced publicly, but the listmembers don't chat much at all -- on Veg-Biz and Veg-Edu. I think that most often listmembers don't look at vegetarian e-mail lists as media for collaborating among problemsolvers, as one might use e-mail in a professional employment context. I suspect that most listmembers think of But let's brainstorm here, anyway, just a little bit: Surely we may not wish this to be used exactly as it currently appears to us, but perhaps something like it could be used in some promotional context, or some of its themes or wit could be used -- in commercial media like radio or TV, or perhaps even during its development at vegetarian or animal rights conferences, which tend to be held throughout the summertime. Where will be get our creative team of collaborators, or should we encourage Dr. Michael Greger to work more on a marketing campaign for the soyfoods industry? Whatever happened to the practice of medicine? Maynard >Fri, 10 Nov 2000 22:25:20 +0800 > " amazon grrrl " <bliss >Re: Where Do You Get Your Calcium? YES! Where will be get our creative team of collaborators, or should we encourage Dr. Michael Greger to work more on a marketing campaign for the soyfoods industry? I say, enlist whoever from wherever they can be found! I think basically, the first step is to encourage him to look into using his skit to market veggie-dom, and once he has decided to do that, the rest will follow. Whatever happened to the practice of medicine? This IS practicing medicine! Getting people off dairy foods is PREVENTATIVE medicine! His medical credentials give him an air of authority that society respects in this area. They offer him a tremendous advantage to be heard! I think he (and others) can do more good by getting people to avoid dairy and stop creating the ill health in the first place, than by trying to treat symptoms after the fact! I think using the skit to promote veggie lifestyle is GOOD medicine on a grand scale... very efficient!
