Guest guest
Marilu Henner, Edward Asner, Kevin Eubanks, and Other Celebs Promote Vegetarian Foods in New Public Service Campaign Washington, D.C.—The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) is delighted to announce a new series of public service announcements (PSAs) featuring actors Marilu Henner and Edward Asner, author Alice Walker, Tonight Show bandleader Kevin Eubanks, and other celebrities. Entitled " Do It for Someone You Love, " the campaign encourages Americans to choose healthy foods, especially low-fat and vegetarian ones, both for their own health and that of their loved ones. PCRM is distributing the PSAs to television and radio stations and newspapers throughout the United States. " With the help of these generous celebrities, we hope to encourage many Americans to eat a healthier diet by including more vegetarian foods in their routine, " says PCRM president Neal D. Barnard, M.D. " Given how important healthy foods are in preventing disease and the vast fortunes spent by fast-food chains and junk-food industries in promoting their unhealthy products, it's critical we do all we can to communicate positive nutritional messages. " As Marilu Henner says in her PSA: " With my active life, I need to keep myself fit. And a healthy diet helps me do just that. Some Szechuan tofu, pasta primavera, or my own favorite—cold soba noodles with sesame sauce. The more vegetarian meals you eat, the healthier you'll be. So be stronger and last longer. Tonight, make it vegetarian. Do it for someone you love. I really like that approach... it comes across to me as intelligent, gentle and yet powerful! The " someone you love " can be absolutely anyone (including onself!), so it can appeal to everyone.
