Guest guest
>you are right. but do you feed your pets cruelty free? The dog, yes. He has been on a vegan kibble since he was a puppy. The cats I have had more trouble with. I can't get a vegetarian kibble for cats in Canada though. >how many other animals have to die, only to feed one pet? None. With the cat food, I think it is largely made up of waste products from human meat production. I don't think that healthy animals are killed just for pet food. If no humans ate meat anymore (imagine that!) there would be no waste products available, and vegan kibble would become more popular because feeding pets on meat that has been killed just for them wouldn't happen. >do you know about the book: " vegetarian cats and dogs " by james peden? Yes, thanks. We have a copy. >to the horseback riding: i can't imagine that a horse is happy to be forced to go in the direction the rider wants, with the speed the rider wants, ... (and if they are too old, they are sent to the slaugtherhouse). I agree. Some horses, regretfully, are terribly mistreated. At the same time, there are horses who cared for, and introduced to human ways very gently and in the process bond so deeply with certain humans that they become quite willing to help out, and enjoy it. I have often heard people talk about horses as large, smart, powerful friends. " Forcing " animals to do the will of a human is rarely successful, as I understand it. They tend to either rebel or be broken, and either way, that isn't desireable. Bonding with the animal, respecting it's needs and nature, is the only really successful way to enlist it's co-operation, as far as I know. Of course, we COULD easily dispense with the issue of horses if people would stop breeding them. If humans were to stop breeding horses (just like I think they should stop breeding dogs and cats on purpose), there would be no more problem of how to care for the animals.
