" That's an expensive piece of mutton, " quipped Bernie Fiedeldey, 60, the owner of a steel-fabricating business in Cincinnati. " It's not about that. It's about the opportunity and where the money is going. " After a dozen years of lobbying by hunters, B.C. finally put up a mountain sheep permit for auction last January at the 7,000-member Foundation for North American Wild Sheep annual convention in Reno, Nev. Details of the unusual auction were revealed for the first time in the November issue of BCBusiness magazine. The permit allowed the successful bidder to kill a trophy ram anywhere in B.C. three weeks after the close of the regular hunting season.
