The industry is set to revise its voluntary but widely followed code of practice, a review that hasn't taken place for more than a decade. Public opinion about how farm animals are raised has taken a significant shift since the last review, noted Joy Ripley, president of the Canadian Federation of Humane Societies. " People are becoming very conscious of the way their food is raised, " said Ripley in Calgary. " Humane treatment of poultry is going to be front and centre in all of these issues.
