Guest guest
[if you have friends / relatives in MI opposed to hunting, please do forward this message to them] An emergency has arisen in MI with extremist hunting groups trying to push a bill to hunt mourning doves. Dove hunting has been banned for 95 years and there is actually very little public support to hunt doves. But lobbyists are trying to sneak in the bill just after thanksgiving when people are out on vacation, to avoid public scrutiny. There will be a public hearing the coming Tuesday to discuss the bill: November 28 Time: 10 AM Place: 519 House Building, Lansing, MI The best way to help out would be for supporters of the ban to show up in large numbers. At the hearing, you should also identify yourself as a dove supporter willing to testify for the birds. The pro-hunting lobby has planned this for a while, so they will have their own set of dove hunting supporters. All the big AR organizations - HSUS, PETA and Fund for Animals have action alerts posted on their websites today regarding this: http://www.hsus.org/whatnew/michmourningdove112200.html http://www.peta.org/alert/00/223.html http://fund.org/library/documentViewer.asp?ID=225 & table=documents If you cannot make it to the hearing, please contact your legislators at 517-373-0170 and ask them to vote against dove hunting.
