I received the following from another list regarding the Voyager

colledction selling mink teddy bears. I went to their site and saw that

the bears are made from " recycled " mink, whatever that means. I wrote

to them to state my concern about them selling these.

The Voyager Collection is offering a mink teddy bear through their

catalog. Please contact The Voyager Company and ask

that they remove the teddy bear from their inventory. The item # is

VC1130.

You can remind them that mink are gassed after spending their entire

lives in tiny cages.

The UK has banned mink farming

because of the cruelty involved in keeping these inquisitive, active

creatures in such small, barren cages.

Animals shouldn't die just to make teddy bears.

Hi Sharon;

I emailed the company about this issue, and the following is what

they sent me back.

Hello Deborah,

We honestly appreciate your email. It assuredly increases our

sensitivities

about this issue and I have forwarded your email to our marketing

department.

The teddy bear in question is made of polyester fiberfill with

fur from

recycled coats from owners who have seen the light. Even so,

your point is

well made and well taken. Most of us are as concerned as

yourself about

creating a better world for all creatures great and small and

your email

helps keep us on track.

Thank you for contacting us.

Ya know, I would love to know who the dummy was who came up with the fur bear

idea in the first place ! They say they made them from recycled fur coats.

Maybe they should have put the coats to good use by giving them to the homeless

that are out freezing on the streets instead of making them into something

completely useless! Ugh... End of rant. ; ) Kari the lurker*
