McVeggie Sandwich is Coming

This was sent to a statewide list in Rhode Island, which I pass on FOR YOUR

CONSIDERATION. If discussion is suitable, it would be suitable on your

vegetarian and AR lists, and not merely as a private posting to me.

 

We do NOT know yet whether this development is VEGAN, and that, too, could be

one of the discussion items when contacting the local McDonald's store

managers.

 

In addition, why aren't their competition among the first to offer

veggieburgers?

Why did Burger King and Wendy's allow McDonald's to be the first, when we

figured McDonald's would be among the last to do this, since Ray Kroc and his

successor were so adamant about rejecting our bids in the 1980's and the

1990's

for them to produce veggieburgers.

 

Many others will want nothing to do with this behemoth, McDonald's, and some

will wonder what has gone wrong with PETA, that they are " cavorting with the

Devil " ,

which is at least as bad as " wearing fur " .

 

However, the tide is turning, protests DO make a difference, and there IS

real AND effective action which can take place in specifically VEGETARIAN

activism.

LET'S HELP PROMOTE MCVEGGIE ......

 

The Ethical Partnership between the World's Largest

Animal Rights Group and the World's Largest Fast Food Chain

 

 

Dear Friend:

 

Just a few months after PETA declared a yearlong cease-fire

of its campaign against McDonald's, the animal rights group is

promising the fast-food giant that it will go ALL out to help promote

any vegan entrée the company adds to its US menu.

PETA is offering to feature the vegan options in its international

magazine, Animal Times, and to plug them on its Web site.

Now, we can help to push McVeggie Sandwich to all of our friends,

and members. If McDonald's realizes that millions of people wanting to

eat veggie food, they will be encouraged and will eventually convert

more of its Ham Burgers to Veggie Burgers. You know it saves lives.

We believe McDonald's can do it!

 

 

WHAT YOU CAN DO:

 

1: A Local Survey:

Check the phone book and make a quick survey of your local

McDonald's shops or " outlets " or stores, checking to make sure

whether or not they offer the McVeggie Sandwich.

If they do, go to BUY some for you and your family.

If they don't have McVeggie Sandwich, then talk to the Manager

to request the store to offer McVeggie Sandwich for the local

customers.

 

2: Please make this important ANNOUNCEMENT that McDonald's is

offering McVeggie Sandwich in your newsletters or e-mail

distribution list. Also ask your group's members to check with the

local McDonald's stores to make sure they serve the " McVeggie Sandwich " .

(ask them to call/talk to the local store Managers, not merely to the

cashier ! )

 

3: VERY IMPORTANT TO WRITE A LETTER to McDonald's CEO,

Mr. Jack Greenberg to:

 

a: Thank McDonald's for taking these important steps for animals

.. Let Jack Greenberg know that you are VOLUNTEER to PROMOTE

 

.. his (their) " McVeggie Sandwich " as well as all of other Veggie

items to all

your friends, coworkers, neighbors, vegetarian society members, etc.

 

b: Please ask McDonald's to offer McVEGGIE BURGERS

at ALL ITS 25,000 RESTAURANTS WORLDWIDE,

especially for ALL of its Restaurants in the US

Request McDonald's to create a variety of flavors and kinds

of McVeggie Burgers

(eg. mushroom, nutty, veggieveggie, pepper, hot 'n spicy,

barbecue, Southwestern, pizza, grainy, " rice is nice " ,

etc.)

 

c: More importantly, request McDonald's to automatically add two

more big words " McVEGGIE BURGER " , " McVEGGIE SANDWICH "

in positions equal to it's " hamburgers " in ALL of it's burger

and sandwich advertisements and other publicity

(which includes ALL of their bill board & TV ads etc.).

 

d: Ask that the company do more for humane treatment of billions

of suffering animals and ask McDonald's to commit to the list

of specific steps to improve animals' lives.
