Fur ads on Classical Music station KCFM in Tulsa

PLEASE HELP WITH THIS:

A local Tulsa classical music station is running ads

for Sangirardi Furs, selling minktail keychains for

$20, mink earmuffs for $50 and fur-trimmed handbags.

This is a shock to the system to hear this elegant

classical music and then hear this ad for fur items.

Please

help by sending a polite, reasoned fax or email to the

station’s general manager, John Rogers. FAX: (918)

663-6622, email: workforce. You could

also send a letter snail mail, at KCFM, 5810 E. Skelly

Dr., Ste. 801, Tulsa, OK.

A sample letter (the one I am sending) is given below.

Please feel free, naturally, to change this in

whatever way you like, or write one entirely your own.

Thanks for your help! --Connie

Dear Mr. Rogers:

I am a long time listener to your station, a violinist

and music teacher, and I usually enjoy and support

your programming. However, the ads for Sangirardi

Furs--the keychains for $20, mink earmuffs for $50 and

the fur-trimmed handbags--are so ugly, in such

incredibly

bad taste, and so out of place in your programming, it

was a shock to hear them.

Please, do not run these ads which are supportive of

cruel and unnecessary practices towards animals.

These ads do not serve the tastes and needs of your

listeners, who are not apt to buy cheap knock-offs of

fur items, anyway. The items mentioned in these ads

are frightening to sensitive children, and useless to

anyone. They support an industry which is indifferent

to the sufferings of animals, and which any thoughtful

person abhors. They are not worthy to be mentioned

along with the music your play on your station.

Sincerely,

Connie Sunday
