Guest guest
For those who may not have heard, falconry is the (sic) practice of hunting with raptors (birds of prey such as hawks, falcons, etc.) The US Fish and Wildlife Service is requesting public comments regarding making falconry less restrictive for public, which would essentially mean more hunting. Full details can be found in the federal register: http://frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi-bin/getdoc.cgi?dbname=2000_register & docid=00\ -29562-filed Please ask the FWS to deny falconry permits to participants in 'educational' programs and also tell them that additional opportunities should not be created for the public to participate in falconry. Send letters to: Division of Migratory Bird Management U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service 4401 North Fairfax Drive Room 634, Arlington, Virginia 22203 You can also e-mail your comments to falconry__programs (fws.gov). Please make sure that the comments are in ASCII text form with no HTML or special characters. You should also include your name and address in the message. SAMPLE LETTER: Comments regarding falconry education permits This letter is with reference to the US Fish and Wildlife Service's request for public comments about falconry educational permits. In my opinion, falconry permits should be denied to people who don't satisfy the current minimum requirements. The FWS should not make falconry regulations less restrictive since this would mean that people who don't have the proper training, equipment or background would handle birds of prey which, in turn, can result in injuries to both people as well as the birds.
