Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I went to see my mom and she told me that the cat had a mouse. She mentioned that she heard a mouse a while back, but I thought the mouse was gone. So, now today she tells me that the cat has the mouse in the bedroom and the door was closed. I was shocked and immediately went in there to help the mouse. I finally found him/her and coaxed her into a paper towel role and then put her into a plastic container w/ holes in the top. She doesn't seem to be acting normal. Maybe the cat did some damage to her. I have a gerbil (that I acquired recently because her owner left her behind) so I gave Mousy some gerbil food (after calling a pet store to see if this was ok. I also gave her two pieces of carrot and put some water in a flat dish for her. She did show a little interest in the food at first but I don't know if she actually ate any. Very little, if any. My intent was to keep her at least until she seems ok and then release her back into the wild. I'd rather not keep her permanently and I'm sure my mom would not be thrilled about that. I told her she should have let me know about the cat having the mouse right away, but she said she was glad and said the mouse was her enemy. She said she was afraid the mouse was going to crawl on her in her sleep and bite her and she was afraid of rabies. So, anyhow, the help I'm looking for is some advice. I have two cages for Duncan (my gerbil), so I was thinking of putting the mouse in the fish tank w/ the top and putting Duncan in the plastic cage. Having the mouse in Duncan's quarters for a while wouldn't hurt Duncan in any way when she gets back in there, would it? Like maybe if the mouse had a disease, then Duncan could catch it? I don't know what else I could put her (mouse) in where she would be safe while I go to work. Any advise anyone can give me regarding this mouse and what to do with her, care for her would be appreciated. I have to go to work at noon, so I'm hoping to get some response before then. Please feel free to cc me directly so I get the message sooner. One thing I really want to know is how to give her water. I cut one of those tiny plastic containers that you get salad dressing to go in. I cut it down pretty small, like a saucer, and put water in there. Is that a good way to do it?
