Stephens, Inc. was already HLS's largest shareholder with 45.6 million shares. Huntingdon Life Sciences (HLS) is one of the world's largest contract animal testing companies with headquarters in Great Britain, and a U.S. laboratory located in East Millstone, NJ. Everyday 500 animals & shy; including dogs, cats, monkeys, guinea pigs, rabbits, rats, mice, and birds & shy; die behind the walls of HLS. All of the suffering and torture the animals face would have come to an end if Stephens didn't step in-now they must be held accountable! The following are featured speakers at an upcoming investment conference in Las Vegas (March 21-23) sponsored by Stephens (more info http://www.march21.net). Please contact these speakers before Tuesday March 20 to express your concern with them supporting Stephens. Let's make sure that their featured speakers are well aware of potential problems at the conference and are WORRIED and convey that message to Stephens on their own. Hearing concerns from their own guys might have more impact than hearing from us. It would sure be a bummer for Stephens if some of their speakers canceled at the last minute! This may be their first exposure to this issue and it will likely be their first time as the target of this type of campaign. Explain that ethical people do NOT support companies that cruelly kill animals. Also, explain that if they continue to support Stephens they may become targets of similar demonstrations. *sample letter is at the bottom of this email following the contact info for the speakers* Please contact the following before Tuesday March 20 ************** Quick email (If you can only send one email - copy & paste into field of your email to email most of below): Wayne D. (see http://www.march21.net) Stephens, Inc. was the secret U.S. investor that saved Huntingdon Life Sciences from being closed by extending them a $33 million loan. Stephens, Inc. was already HLS's largest shareholder with 45.6 million shares. On January 17th, representatives from Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty had met with two representatives of Stephens regarding its holding shares in HLS. SHAC presented information from the five investigations inside HLS and documented a detailed pattern of animal abuse and horrific cruelty going on inside the labs. SHAC also provided information as to why HLS is a bad business investment. Stephens chose to ignore these facts and is now responsible for keeping Huntingdon Life Sciences open. We must remember that for each day that HLS remains open, another 500 dogs, cats, monkeys and other animals die in agony. The five separate undercover investigations, showed employees of Huntingdon Life Sciences were caught on video subjecting animals to extreme cruelty and abuse. In London, an investigation filmed 4-month old puppies being punched and thrown against the wall. In New Jersey, technicians were filmed laughing at and mocking a tied-down, frightened monkey while squirting lubricant into his mouth. How can Stephens Inc possibly support such barbarous treatment of animals? I join thousands of other animal advocates to demand Stephens Inc to immediately cease its support for Huntingdon Life Sciences. We ask you to end your support of animal cruelty and abuse by refusing to speak at this or any other event sponsored by Stephens. As part of my commitment to ending the pain and suffering endured by the animals under the hands of Huntingdon Life Sciences, I will urge my family and friends to join me in boycotting any company associated with Huntingdon Life Sciences. Sincerely, Name Address
