Guest guest
Nature Conservancy & The Rainforest “Please do reconsider, because you may be inadvertently contributing to hunting and fishing. When you visit their website you will get the impression that you are saving rainforests and then saving endangered species. But on closer inspection, you will find that they are supporting hunting, fishing, etc. They donates 100% of its race revenues to Nature Conservancy. Here is some info from the conservancy site: <<<To preserve this remote river's dynamics and mosaic of wildlife habitats, The Nature Conservancy purchased 286 square miles along the St. John corridor - the largest private tract of land ever purchased for conservation in the northeastern United States. While these lands will be open to hunting, fishing, canoeing and other recreation, our land stewards will keep them free of development ... ensuring intact wilderness for generations to come.>>> Here is the link to the conservancy site from where I got the above stuff: http://www.tnc.org/frames/index.html?/success/index.html#11 With every new ecological corridor the conservancy acquires, the destructive possibilities are endless... Regards, Srikanth " TNC's Strange Bedfellows There is a very small percentage of The Nature Conservancy's members who are " vegetarian. " Were they to be serious about land conservation/the rainforest, they would equate eating meat with land destruction. [McDonald's uses it's spin-doctoring of the media by claiming they don't use rainforest meat. How they get away with this is when the meat is shipped into the port of New Orleans from rainforest ranches, it automatically becomes U.S. property and the origin is transferred.] TNC sits on the fence just like other media-generated organizations(Sierra Club, GreenPeace, etc.). As Vegans, we should see through the smokescreens and support hard-corepeople that are true to their cause. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The Nature Conservancy believes that big business should team up withthem to help ensure protection of the environment. It's a bit ludicrous that TNC has chosen companies that are dedicated to DEstruction of the land. Additionally, by these big corp's donations, it puts members of theirorganizations on TNC's board! Here's an example (this guy is PRO FACTORY FARMING!): Norris Elected To Nature Conservancy Board http://www.marknorris.org/Press/pr08.html - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - And the little that these companies earmark for TNC is obviously hush-money.
