Scientists Say Check the Source New theory pits Guernsey cows against Jersey cows A cow is a cow is a cow. Right? Wrong, say some experts, who insist that the substance responsible for thousands of cases of heart disease is found in the milk of only some cows. Casein is a form of protein found in milk. There are four varieties. Some scientists say that some cows do not produce the form of casein that is linked to heart disease, according to an article from the BBC. Other experts say the theory is flawed because the different kinds of casein are not all that different. The scientists who believe the theory hope to profit from it by marketing the milk they say does not contribute to heart disease. They plan to test it by examining heart disease among Channel Islanders, the article says. The Channel Islands are a group of small islands in the English Channel off the coast of France. The islands of Guernsey and Jersey are famous for the cattle they breed. The scientists say the Guernsey cows do not produce the problematic casein, while those from Jersey do. The supporters of the theory hope to prove it by examining the rates of heart disease among people who drink milk. But the Dairy Council says those experts have been " unable to demonstrate conclusive evidence of cause and effect. " To find out more about heart disease, you can read this article from allHealth.com, or this article from the American Heart Association. -- Pem McNerney ~~~~In Messiah~~~~ Vickilynn (Real Food Discussion List Momma) Micah 6:
