Years ago, the parents of Joi Straaten had a unique way of

introducing their vegetarian child to friends and acquaintances.

" This is our daughter, " they would say. " She eats grass. "

 

Straaten now muses about how attitudes have changed about her food

preferences, especially since healthy eating -- and soy foods in

particular -- have gone mainstream.
