The commercial MEAT FACTORY is a weekly politics/obscure music radio

show. It is our intention to bring our community awareness about human, earth

and animal liberation as well as fill your mind with enticing and obscure, yet

sometimes absurd music.

 

The show airs Fridays from 5-7 pm PST on WPMD 1700 AM and worldwide on

the web at www.cerritos.edu/wpmd The first hour is our community forum and the

second belongs to the noise. WPMD 1700 AM is available to over half a million

residents of Cerritos, Artesia, Bellflower, Paramount, Downey, La Mirada,

Norwalk,

Hawaiian Gardens, Lakewood and parts of Long Beach & Whittier, California.

 

This list will consist of one email per week informing you of subject matters as

well as talk and music radio guests.

 

This weeks guests include the following people:

 

Norberto Martinez - Father to Gonzalo Martinez who was unarmed and shot by

Downey Police 34 times.

 

Norma and Norberto Martinez say their son's name should be as well known

 

as that of Donovan Jackson.

 

 

 

Gonzalo Martinez's encounter with police also was captured on videotape. It

 

ended in a hail of gunfire as police fired with handguns and a machine gun,

 

killing Martinez, 26, and spraying shots through a residential neighborhood.

Martinez, who was unarmed, had led police on a chase and was

 

shot as he emerged from his car.

 

 

 

The images of Martinez's death, captured in a grisly videotape that shows

 

the barrage of gunfire and then Martinez's convulsing body, have sparked

 

only selective outrage. For the last six months, the dead man's family has

 

led protests outside Downey City Hall. Images of the shooting were shown in

 

their native Argentina. The FBI and the Los Angeles County district

 

attorney's office are investigating.

 

 

 

 

 

October 22nd Coalition/Stolen Lives Project - Lennie Harris www.october22.org

 

The Coalition sponsors the National Day of Protest to Stop Police Brutality,

Repression and the Criminalization of a Generation every year on

October 22. This will be the 7th annual demonstration, convening in Los Angeles

at

2 pm on the corner of Olympic and Broadway for a march to the rally at LAPD

headquarters.

 

In addition to " the DAY " , the Coalition works with the Stolen Lives Project

to provide a platform for families such as the Martinez family to speak about

their loved ones.

 

They also publish the book: Stolen Lives, Killed by Law Enforcement that

documents more than 2,000 people killed by police in this country.
