Guest guest
So how did everyone else spend ghandi's birthday? several friends and went about town distributing wfad materials. i originally wanted to set up an information table, but after having trouble with the city authorities(they wanted to charge me a hundred dollers for security) and since i didnt get a permit i decided to tone down the demonstration. i dont know why i even bothered the police didnt pay any attention anyway. some people seemed genuinly intersted in the information we gave them. alot of people wouldnt give a second look or would go acroos the street to avoid us, like we were handing out porno or something, one guy apparently thought ghandi was a communist, and thought he was on par with chairman mao(ahh, the south). and of course the line " sure i like farm animals, i like to eat them! " got pretty old oh id say after the first time i heard it, especially since every person who said it thought they were being so clever. it would have been one thing if people had at least read the stuff, but just the fact that they outright refused to even look at the information we were handing out i found disturbing. hopefully we managed to inspire at least one person to reconsider their current diet. -mike
Guest guest
Well, Mike, I completely agree with you about the South, I am in Central Georgia, Warner Robins to be exact ( I am originally from Northern NH and MA, just stuck here by the fates for a time). They really have no tolerance for vegans around here at all. I love the " Well, what's wrong with meat and milk, they do a body good. " Then when you try to explain, they just argue with you. But I guess I shouldn't be suprised given the generally low educational standards in this region. Where are you located, if I may ask, and are there any other vegans out there trying hard in the south. - Veronica New DSL Internet Access from SBC &
