Guest guest
I got that same catalogue, and I couldn't figure out what mailing list I had been put on that would have led that catalogue to me. I haven't really looked at it, because I was just too flabergasted. I could understand donating money for land or seed, but animals. I just can't get it. Another case of people unclear on the concept. stoneysmrf wrote: stoneysmrf Wed, 23 Oct 2002 14:52:08 EDT a curious catalog <PRE>i just got in the mail a catalog where one can pay for livestock to give(donate) to a poor third world family. cows, sheep, goats, oxen, camels, llamas, donkeys, bees, water buffalo, ducks, guinea pigs, rabbits, geese, pigs, 2 flocks of chicks. very not vegan. Guest guest
hmm... seems like it would be better to teach sustainable farming techniques/hydroponics to them and pool vegetable seeds. I read about a guy that was teaching starving villages to make hydroponic farms w/ different sizes of bamboo for tubing, make their own hydroponic solutions, etc. It would seem this would be much more effective and efficient, rather than destroying their land thru grazing. Though the bees would help if they were farming veggies. , stoneysmrf@a... wrote: > <PRE>i just got in the mail a catalog where one can pay for livestock to > give(donate) to a poor third world family. cows, sheep, goats, oxen, camels, > llamas, donkeys, bees, water buffalo, ducks, guinea pigs, rabbits, geese, > pigs, 2 flocks of chicks. very not vegan.
