IT DOES NOT MATTER HOW ELOQUENT, JUST HOW MANY REACH THE APPROPRIATE PERSON IN TIME . . . PLEASE WRITE TO GOV. PATAKI AS WELL AND FOWARD, IMMEDIATELY, TO EVERY DOG PERSON YOU KNOW !!!! Suzanne Young, Co-founder/Corresponding Secretary West Alabama Animal Rescue Tuscaloosa, Alabama " Until there are none, adopt one " A non-profit, tax exempt animal welfare charity ----------------- Hey Guys, Please read the following information and respond to it immediately. Time is of the essence. New York state is about to allow restaurants to serve our precious dogs for dinner. Please write a letter to the below listed address against such inhumane and barbaric practices, and encourage legislation against this. There is legislation pending; however, it needs more support from people like us. Please forward this to everyone you know. Leslie Morrison Thought everybody should be aware of this and send those letters!!!!! Stunning News On Sunday, September 29th the nationally syndicated columnist Jimmy Breslin announced in his NEWSDAY column " The first restaurants in this area serving dog meat are about to open in Columbia and Suffolk Counties in New York State. " Not only is this shocking and unbelievable, particularly in light of the fact that there is alleged to be a bill sitting on Governor Pataki's desk banning such a practice, but the gleeful tone of Mr. Breslin's announcement is deplorable. His dislike for all dogs was highlighted in his column of February 21, 2002 when he called search and rescue dogs " four-legged frauds " and claimed that " dogs are useless " . His latest attack of September 19 was masterfully answered in last week's DOG NEWS by Shaun Coen, who originally also answered his February 21st column. But seemingly encouraged by what Breslin called an " almost uniformly laudatory reaction to his column " he now seems to be both encouraging and delighted by the prospect of restaurants being opened to serve dog meat. Now then what Mr. Breslin writes is his business and one may or may not agree with him but if he thinks the dog world is going to stand benignly by and let him encourage the sale of dog meat in any form whatsoever he is just downright wrong. NEWSDAY's address is 235 Pinelawn Road, Melville, New York, 11747 and their phone is 631-843-4000. Don't let this writer get away with those words, that's for sure. And while we're at it - come on Pataki, sign that bill!!! " Live in peace with the animals. Animals bring love to our hearts, and warmth to our souls. " Colleen Klaum " He who is cruel to animals becomes hard also in his dealings with men. We can judge the heart of a man by his treatment of animals. " Immanuel Kant -- Y!
