THE

UNIVERSAL ENQUIRER

ASHAMED TO BE MARXIST !

AS READERS MUST BE AWARE, I consider myself to be a Marxist, in that I believe

the philosopher Karl Marx`s ( & his friend Frederick Engels`) view of historical

development to be correct. How ashamed I am to call myself MARXIST, however,

when I am faced with the crass indifference to suffering of other (so-called?)

Marxists ~ for example, their poo-pooing of anything to do with the right of

animals to our protection & compassion.

These people mostly adhere to Lenin`s approach to life & that of Lenin`s heirs

in the East: i.e. blinkered, non-holistic, narrow & utterly focussed on

" politics " to the exclusion of everything else pertaining to life. They fail to

see that life is an integral whole & it doesn`t help that Marx & Engels

themselves never commented on the rights of animals, one way or another!

All of this is a far cry from the holistic approach to life (although she was

caught up in the utterly party-political struggle of German social-democracy in

the 1910s) of ROSA LUXEMBURG ~ whom today`s Leninists & leftists of all sorts

pay lip-service to.

Her letters from prison reveal her personality as consisting of much more than

do the sterile personalities of today`s Leninists, & even of many among today`s

non-Leninist Marxists (i.e. many even within the current Socialist Party of

Great Britain & its companion parties). Looking into the eye of an ox being

badly beaten by a cruel farmer, Rosa recognised a common suffering & a common

capacity for suffering between humans & animals, & this sensitivity is echoed in

the superb film " Rosa Luxemburg " by Margarethe Von Trotta.

Yet Leninist dullards with the nerve to call themelves revolutionists, who

dare to claim Rosa as one of their heroines no less (!) mock The Raven`s editor

for his campaign on behalf of the tortured dogs of Korea & on behalf of other

animals, calling his recent condemnation of Buddhist hypocrisy " western

chauvinism " & making fun of the campaign to rescue thousands of animals from an

ongoing nightmare.

" Western chauvinism " is one of the epithets used by Leninists & Maoists,

(usually to condemn progress of any kind) & in this case it shows their

solidarity is with brutal anti-working class regimes like that of South Korea,

Thailand-Siam & others ~ such is their macho horror of being associated with any

form of sensitivity. They are, in effect, the left-wing equivalent of the

foxhunter, & we know only too well that those with no regard for life in one

form have no regard for it in any form (Leninism`s record with regard to the

treatment of human beings needs no reiteration for our readers here!) ... But

such sloganeering is not the method of non-Leninist Marxists, yet even they mock

the movement for animal rights. Please write in to comment on my dilemma.

ASIAN ANIMAL-TORTURERS, BOGUS SOCIALISTS & INTERNET ZOMBIES

I

IF THE VILEST OF TODAY`S ANIMAL-TORTURERS WERE WHITE, it would be fine to

criticise them. But they are Asian ~ that`s a fact! ~ so criticising them in any

way for their crimes is unacceptable & " politically incorrect " (to use a

Newspeak phrase).

A Korean dog-torturer (AND THOUSANDS OF DOGS ARE TORTURED IN THIS WAY DAILY!)

will hoist a terrified, screaming animal up by its throat and, having tied it,

will approach it with a blow-torch, which he will pass along the animal`s belly

and private parts, paws and nose DELIBERATELY AND WITH THE INTENTION OF HEARING

IT SHRIEK IN AGONY, as he and his co-workers laugh and thoroughly enjoy this

part of their work. For it is their belief that they will be complimented on the

taste of the animal`s meat, the more it has suffered an excruciating death. The

dog will then be beaten with a stick especially made for the purpose to break

its bones whilst it lives and feels ~ and the process will be prolonged for as

long as possible.

This takes place every day of the year, with thousands upon thousands of

victims, in Korea, the Philippines, Cambodia, China, etc.

With the exception of the Philippines and (officially) China, all of the

countries practising this savagery in the name of cuisine are Buddhist. The

torturers belong to the Buddhist religion, by birth if not for any other reason,

and it is safe to say they will be found offering up incense for the " spiritual

welfare " of themselves and their families regularly in the temples, like most of

their compatriots.

However ~ if this makes you aghast and you feel prompted to write and talk

about it, here is what you can expect:

From the representatives of Buddhism: Dogs are a rabid nuisance and need to be

killed (Michigan State University Buddhist Group) ... so it is surely less of a

sin to kill them for meat ...

The details of the killing ~ the vivid depiction of the slow and deliberate

torturing of these animals prior to receiving the death-blow ~ are totally

ignored. So too is the fact that dogs are imported and bred for this purpose and

that the last thing the Asian dog-meat industry would want would be a depletion

in the number of dogs ...

Immediately, the critic is the one attacked, for being a racialist spreader of

hatred against Buddhists, Asians, their " culture " and their " traditions " . Never

mind that

many of those who are repelled equally with us by these horrors are themselves

Asians, including Koreans, and are active in attempting the destruction of these

unholy " traditions " (see www.koreananimals.org)

But now come the western defenders of the torturers and consumers, and these

western defenders are invariably " progressives " and include so-called socialists

and Marxists.

" Wait a minute " , say the Marxists, " this western chauvinist is so concerned

with animals, when people are suffering and being tortured everywhere under

capitalism! " Quite so. People are. But the Marxists are wrong on all counts.

Hating cruelty to animals does not mean one doesn`t hate cruelty to people,

and the fact of cruelty to people doesn`t justify cruelty to animals. In fact,

an animal-torturer evidently has it in him to torture humans, as does anyone who

is not rendered utterly aghast by torture in the first place! (As evidently

these Marxists are not!)

" Western chauvinist " is a term of abuse one can imagine flung by the mandarins

of the Manchu Dynasty in China at the European perturbed by foot-binding. In

fact, the Marxists who use epithets like this and who are led to oppose any call

for the end of an atrocity that is non-western in origin, could fling the same

epithet at those westernised Chinese who, in the 20th century, struggled to end

the home-grown abuses among them such as footbinding, which were also

" traditions. "

Another Marxist, of a different type than these Pol Pot offspring (who, by the

way, are led by their anti-westernism ~ whilst being westerners themselves ~ to

support against the critic of Asian animal abuse the vilest of anti-working

class regimes in East Asia!) might ask, " What the heck has any of this to do

with Marxism anyway? " Exactly. Nothing apart from the fact that it shows us

that most of those claiming to be Marxist, socialist, progressive, etc. possess

nothing in head, heart or nerves to differentiate them from the crassest of

insensitive red-neck thugs. If anything, they are worse ~ because they should

have evolved as human beings beyond that state, AND HAVEN`T DONE SO!

II.

COMPARTMENTALIZED THINKING is thus dependent on emotional castration, and

COMPARTMENTALIZED THINKING (human misery in this box, animal misery in that box;

the one being of greater or lesser importance than the other) is sadly the rule.

Firstly, it requires the numbing of the personality and is done in various ways.

It permits the average person to ignore horror. Or to sublimate it. NOT TO WANT

TO BE BOTHERED WITH IT. The object of fury then becomes the critic of an abuse,

rather than the abuser. Secondly, it INTELLECTUALISES whilst it DESENSITIZES ~

this in the case of the follower of an ~ism ~ hence, someone whose humanity

has been truncated and exists in a perpetual vacuum of straight-roaded

immaturity, such as your " progressive " and your " Marxist " , who has allowed a

political ideology to destroy the prospect of his/her emotional growth. (But

this is not the case of the true Socialist ~ see the preceding article on

" Ashamed To Be Marxist. " )

The internet has further compartmentalized many of those who use it and it

intensifies compartmentalization in life, in opinion, and encourages

shallowness. The so-called discussion groups, for example, which are typical of

all ISP forums (such as ~ Gulliver knew them well!), discourage holism

and holistic exchange between people, the only form of exchange that is healthy

and really progressive. The groupings consist of online clubs for this and that,

and any deviation is termed " off-topic " and pronounced anathema. In the same way

that the internet is a substitute for life, for touch, for human connecting on

the part of the alienated and the lonely, it likewise enforces and intensifies

the compartmentalization of relations, of exchange, of communication between

people that is symptomatic of existence under capitalism in the first place.

(These two articles announce our departure from the internet. THE RAVEN will

henceforth enjoy but a small circulation BY POST among a circle of friends and

paid-up rs.)
