The basic problem seems to be an absence of list ownership/moderation. You need someone to kick trolls and spammers out, and occasionally to keep discussions more-or-less on topic. If the list owner has abandoned the list, then the thing to do is for some one else to start up a new list, and for everyone here to move to the new list -- that is, to the new list and unsub from this one. You cannot get to transfer ownership of the list to someone else: I have tried in similar circumstances. Both the old owner (who had forgotten her password) and I tried: no good. They never even responded to our messages. Since the service is free, there's no point in complaining about it. I am already an owner of two lists, and my hands are full with other commitments as well, so I have no time to be an owner or moderator on this list. But it would be nice if someone would do it.... Guest guest
Farm animals don't live as peacefully as they used to, and don't live as peacefully as we often are told.. Here's what the Humane Society for the US says about currently farmed animals' conditions (note that they don't oppose eating meat) http://www.hsus.org/ace/11513 This is from the EPA- the trend is away from small farms where animals roam, and towrds farms where animals are confined. http://tinyurl.com/2by6 What we grow up with is our specific culture, and not neccessarily the 'best' ways. In China, people kill and eat dogs, and they think of it just as other people think of killing and eating lambs. In India cows are not seen as food. In the US dogs and cats aren't seen as food, rabbits are seen as food to some people and not to others. http://www.fact.cc/FACTBackgrnd.htm</\ A> This is a group who wants people to be able to continue eating animal products, but thinks the current factory farm methods are inhumane Here are detailed descriptions of some farm animals' living conditions, according to animal industry and scientific journals. Guest guest
spiritual people of many religions claim the eating of meat is bad karma/ethics/etc. as for the vitamins, i take the vegan vitamins bought through the pangea products homepage (i'm not on the computer that has all my favorite links, but i'm sure someone on here has it.. or just do a search.. it's one of the bigger vegan homepages). i take vitamins mostly to subdue my parents and friends who think it's " unhealthy " to eat vegan. the vitamins recommend taking 2 a day.. i take 1 a day if that (probably averages out to 1 every other day). and i feel great. don't think i'm lacking in any vitamins. ===== Jason Mayes ____ ___ \ /| /\ ____ | \ \___/ / \ \ / | /--\ | \ | | | | | _ \ / | / \ | THE | |___| | \ \ / |___ |___/ |___/ / \ \___/ X When you classify someone, / \ all your doing is limiting yourself and others. Guest guest
Hey there Tina, The only vegan multis that you can get in Australia without having to mail order are the tablet, and not capsule, form of Swisse Women's. You can get them at most pharmacies, but not always the supermarket. They're a really complete formula and have the B12 and everything else. The only thing that you might want to watch for is the caffeine (in the form of green tea extract), since some people are against consuming caffeine. I've not been sick once since I've been on them, so I'm really happy with them. They're about $24.00 a bottle which has 60 tablets which lasts you about 2 months. In general, I do suggest multis (multivitamins) but if you're only after taking what you'd be missing from a vegan diet then the only thing that you have to watch for is B12. If this is the case, then Blackmore's has a vegan B12 supplement available almost every supermarket (Coles and Safeway) and pharmacy. Hope this helps Jenny > Message: 2 > Sat, 18 Jan 2003 03:18:36 -0000 > " Tina <hsvgurl18 " <hsvgurl18 > Vitamins > > Hey guys, im new here!
