Dinner jackets

Hello All,

I am new to all your groups, having never previously thought of looking for

vegan groups on the net. There were so many, I couldn't believe it. So I just

joined some of the ones with the most members for now. Anyway, it's great to

have found them, as I am pretty isolated as a vegan.

Oh, I should probably introduce myself. My name is Ian, I'm 26 and live in

Oxford in Great Britain. I became a vegan in 1995.

I have not had time to look through all your old messages and links yet, so I

apologise if this question has been covered. Non-vegans are always saying the

same old things like " Don't you miss bacon? Don't you miss cheese? " There are no

foodstuffs that I miss that much. What I miss is wool. It's frustrating buying

suits, but one can manage. What I'm having real trouble finding is a dinner

jacket without any wool in. I have one such D.J. that I bought by chance in my

pre-vegan days from Oxfam, but sadly that is now too small. (Too much

houmous...) I would be extremely grateful if anyone knew of anywhere to get one.

Cheers,

Ian

Hello Ian,

Your local tailor will gladly make a non-wool dinner

jacket or three piece suit for you. Yes, it'll cost a

bit more but it'll fit you perfectly and last much

longer than a suit you buy off the rack.

Here are two in your area:

David Clarke Bespoke Tailoring

19, Broad St

Oxford Oxfordshire

OX1 3AS

Tel: 01865 247773

Ede & Ravenscroft Ltd

119, High St

Oxford Oxfordshire

OX1 4BX

Tel: 01865 242756

Just call them up and tell them you are deathly

allergic to wool but require a DJ. I'm sure they will

sort you out.

Cheers,

MrFalafel

Hi Ian

Welcome to :-)

I know at least two other vegans in Oxford, and visit fairly frequently, so

maybe you're not as isolated as you think :-)

I can see that could be a problem - I don't know anywhere off the top of my

head, but will ask around (or maybe someone else here may know?) :-)
