Guest guest
Impotence, or erectile dysfunction, can be a total inability to achieve an erection, an inconsistent ability to do so, or a tendency to sustain only brief erections. This problem worsens as arteries become more clogged in people who consume meat or fat from dairy products, eggs and/or fried foods. The Viagra and herbal remedy crazes indicate that impotence is a serious problem in this country. In many studies, researchers have found that higher levels of artery-clogging cholesterol are linked to greater risk of heart attacks, and as research shows, cholesterol clogs the arteries going to all your organs, not just to your heart. If the blood flow to the genitals is halted or impeded, then erectile failure may occur. Vascular disease can cause the blockage or constriction of the arteries in the pelvis and/or penis. The blood that normally rushes to the penis is partially stopped. Dr Neal Barnard, president of the Washington, DC-based Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, explains this here: (click here). Diabetes, hypertension and obesity can also cause impotence. These afflictions are also related to meat and fat consumption (click here for more information). Side effects from various medications can cause impotence, too. Dr Barnard states that two of the worst culprits are blood pressure pills and cholesterol-lowering drugs, both of which are prescribed for conditions that could be dramatically improved by a vegan diet. Indians around the globe have the highest rates of heart attack. And India now also has the dubious distinction of being the world leader in diabetes. The World Health Organisation blames increased cardiovascular illnesses largely on the ‘wide adoption of the high-fat, hamburger lifestyle’ in developing nations. Moreover, several studies have been done in various countries that show that sperm count is dropping. A 1992 study in the British Medical Journal found that men today in several countries with high or increasing meat consumption have less than half the sperm productions their grandfathers had at the same age. One study surveyed college students. The percentage of male college students who were sterile in 1950 was 0.5 per cent and by 1978 was 25 per cent. One statistic states that there has been a three-fold increase in men whose sperm count is below 20 million, the point at which fertility is jeopardized. The prevailing explanation for this phenomenon implicates elevated levels of the female sex hormone oestrogen, which can be a result of growth-promoting hormones fed to animals. A meat-eater’s diet is typically low in fibre, which allows a greater amount of natural oestrogen to be absorbed in the body’s bloodstream. There is not one ounce of fibre in meat or dairy products. Vegetarians have significantly lower oestrogen levels than non-vegetarians, in part because of the lower fat content in their diet. Excess oestrogen in a man’s body can also lead to gynecomastia, or the problem of breast growth in men. This cosmetic issue could lead to problems in the bedroom, too, for obvious reasons! Vegetarians consume two to three times more fibre than non-vegetarians. Fibre helps the body eliminate waste oestrogen. To be a tiger in the bedroom, why pop a pill, when vegetarianism can help you rise to the occasion? ===== GREATNESS OF NATION AND ITS MORAL PROGRESS CAN BE JUDGED BY THE WAY ITS ANIMALS ARE TREATED- M.K GANDHI.
