And very interesting that the vegans did not live as long as the ovo-lacto-vegetarians and the occasional meat eaters. I wonder whether that could be because, in a society where most people grow up eating meat, becoming vegan requires a new awareness of how to eat healthily, paying attention to things such as protein intake, vitamin B-12, etc. Perhaps many of the vegans in the study were not paying sufficient attention to such matters. Does anyone have any thoughts on this, or alternative theories? Another thing that struck me was that there were only 60 vegans in the study.
