Guest guest
Aside from being vegan, my wife and I try to buy organic products wherever possible. Has anybody noticed lately that Frito-Lay and other huge companies that were traditionally " conventional " , have now started coming out with organic chips and stuff. Well, that's not so bad. This will initiate another whole consumer group to organic foods or at least put organics in their sight-line. Now that the USDA has taken over organic standards, the big companies feel it is time to get on the bandwagon. To make our opinions known, my wife and I just continue to buy the products that have been organic long before it was " cool " , " in " , or backed by the USDA. However, we noticed at our local co-op that space is now being taken up by Lay's and their " natural " fare. I really galls me that these huge companies come in singing the organic song after ignoring it for so long. I guess it's another chance to put our money where our mouth is. Support the long-time organics and not the multi-nationals that are suddenly seeing the light. What do you think? Doug
Guest guest
fer my money, i'd rather hand my money over to a small producer, someone local if possible, then a big faceless corporation who is only doing organic because it is the trend now, and a marketing PR person said they need that extra 1/2 % of the market.. to me, while it is better to buy any organic over a conventional(now, ain't that a kick in the pants, conventional today is the chemical fertilizer pesticide fungicide monoculture farmer, which i-sically 60 yrs old, while, organic is ancient, yet it isn't "conventional"..strange world we live in...) product, if ya buy from the big bois, you are only paying back into a system which is quickly consolidating the food industry. Soon, the same corp may own the farm, the seeds, the processing plant, etc..100% of the system..scary... buy local..... fraggle
