We have 100,000 members coast-to-coast. WE SEEK a Project Organizer to work on building and facilitating a national coalition of community groups opposed to large-scale factory farming. The Project Organizer will be the Council's public face on issues of factory farming, and will be required to ensure significant media work, as well, the Project Organizer will be responsible for: - identifying grassroots groups and individuals with which to partner, and recruiting them to the national coalition; - developing and supporting local grassroots groups and volunteers located throughout Canada, and promoting the enhancement of their capacity to tackle issues concerning factory farming; - working closely with Campaigns and Communications Team members and members of the Organizing Team to organize support for a national Factory Farming coalition; - overseeing and participating in the implementation of planned campaign and organizing activities in collaboration with the Campaigners and Regional Organizers (lobbying, workshops, " days of actions " and popular education events etc.) including oversight of logistical elements and of event staff/volunteers; - facilitating and maintaining organizational relationships with media interested in the project; and, - assisting in the production of reports to foundations and other fundraising efforts. YOU have superior knowledge of, and a minimum of three years' experience in, political organizing or campaign work, or equivalent experiences. Superior knowledge of current national and regional economic, social and political issues, and the Council's goals and programs. You have excellent communication, conflict resolution and negotiating skills. As well, the ability in constituency building (organizing, mobilizing, training, coordinating, and motivating individuals and groups etc. You will need to have thorough knowledge of rural, farming, and food safety issues. For more information, position qualifications attached. The Project Organizer may establish an office in his/her home community if it serves as a base for establishing and maintaining rural contacts.
