Guest guest
Thank you to all of you who replied to the email I sent last Friday. I thought I could reply to each one of you in private but then I thought there might be someone out there that is following this story as well without participating and would like to view the outcomes. I have given much thought about everything you guys replied to me. This time I took the antibiotic and the oral rinse and followed the doctor's advice. I will get my tooth removed soon and I though that if I didn't take my medication the tooth will still be infected and getting worse, and by the time I went back to the clinic to get the tooth removed, the doctor would ask me to take more antibiotics because he can't remove the tooth if it is infected. The day I bought the medications it never occured to me that I could ask the pharmacist to give me some alternative medications to avoid animal ingredients...or at least some advice. I did feel reaaaally bad after reading the ingredients on my prescriptions. I wasn't going to take them but then I felt sick and found out I had some fever. I went to bed, still refusing to take my medications and after 10 minutes I got up and started to write the email I sent you last Friday. Then I went to bed again because I did find it hard to stand up for much longer, but my thoughts wouldn't let me rest so I got up again and reached for my computer to see if some of you had replied my message but nobody had replied it yet. So I searched the internet and found out about an article that made me change my mind for the time being and take the antibiotics. Let me share with all of you this info since I found it very interesting, but first let me tell you that next time I will be prepared and I would look for some alternative drug without animal ingredients, I would ask my pharmacist and the doctor, and I will try to do my best to do the less harm. I will also post a message and let you know if my pharmacist was cooperative and what advice he gave me, this can happen next week since I am expecting the doctor, after the surgery, will send me to the pharmacy for more cruel prescriptions. The article I was talking about is this one: http://www.vegsource.com/joanne/qa/qaprescriptions.htm I would like some feedback on your thoughts after reading this article. Thank you very much again to all of you. And special thanks to Dave, Patti, Bob and Renae. Ana
Guest guest
NO one in society is a vegan, we can be veganish. Take care of your self to contribute your good work. Remember 25 people who reduce meat from their diets have a much larger effect than one holier than thou vegan! No one can be a perfect vegan in our society, we can only do our best. And, if we want to help animals the most, improve world hunger the most, reducing animal usage the largest percentage is the most practical thing we can do, rather than worry about things we have no control over. I've been a vegetarian and mostly vegan for over 30 years, raised two vegetarian sons, and it is a central component of my life. However, I think people need to relax and enjoy their transition rather than worry about it. Bob

Guest guest
Hi Bob, > And, if we want to help animals the most, improve world hunger the most, > reducing animal > usage the largest percentage is the most practical thing we can do, > rather than worry about > things we have no control over. I feel the latter half of this is a rather unfortunate belief. If everyone followed this train of thought, progress in the world would never occur. There's *always* something that can be done. > I've been a vegetarian and mostly vegan for over 30 years, raised two > vegetarian sons, and it > is a central component of my life. However, I think people need to > relax and enjoy their > transition rather than worry about it. Again, i disagree. To stop 'worrrying' is to stop being concerned, which is to act complacent. I agree it's good if someone makes an effort to, say, eat a meatless meal once a week, but i would argue it's even more important that people keep progressing. The term 'vegan' was coined to describe a lifestyle choice - one who actively seeks to leave animal products out of their LIFE (not just diet.) It wasn't created to serve lazy psuedo-vegetarians who don't want to call themselves 'vegetarian' for whatever reason. (More often than not i hear 'lazy' vegans complaining about 'strict' vegans than not. What does that say?) I'm tired of people watering down the term. Imagine someone who calls themself an anti-racist, but tells a bunch of racist jokes every week, gets a kick out of it, and encourages other anti-racists to act this way. - Dave
